When someone breaks up with you, it takes a toll on you emotionally and physically. Breaking up is nerve wracking, stressful and frustrating, especially if you were together for a long time. If you’re reading this article it probably means you’ve been there too, or you’re there right now. You know how hard it is to wake up in the morning and spend another day without that person. You can’t stop thinking about that person because everywhere you turn there’s another reminder of the times you had together. You also feel like you want to do whatever you can to regain what you’ve lost and you feel anxious to reconnect which causes you to call, text, email your ex constantly trying to get them to talk to you. You beg forgiveness, try to make them feel sorry for you, promise you’ll change if they just give you another chance. Sad, but true and this needy behavior will only cause your ex to pull away from you further. This is because you’re only pressuring your ex to take you back and people naturally resist against this kind of pressure.
You obviously want to get back with your ex from the bottom of your heart, but if you let your emotions get the better of you, you’re only going to worsen the situation and make it harder, if not impossible, to get your ex back. The first thing to do when your relationship ends is to accept it. You have to force yourself to calm down and accept that the relationship is over and no amount of agonizing will change that. This will help you on your way to getting your ex back because once you accept that it’s over, you can start to think rationally about why it ended in the first place. Once you understand why you are in a better position to get your ex back and make things work for a long time because not only will you be able to work on what went wrong, you’ll be able to stop yourself from repeating the same mistakes.
You should also stay strong and grounded and not let your ex think you’re needy or desperate. Let that person see that you are moving on with your life. Go out with friends, do your own thing and just have fun instead of focusing on your relationship issues. Not only does this show your ex that you are doing ok, it lets them see you as the person they fell in love again and reminds them why they fell in love with you in the first place. This also helps you because once you let yourself heal and get yourself on track and feeling good about yourself, you’ll be better able to communicate with your ex and come across as strong and self-confident not needy and desperate.
